•LOVE FEASTS• where Kingdom hospitality is put on display• where people can gather together around food & fellowship• where sons and daughters of the King can feel treasured, seen, & loved• and where community & family can be built around a common love for Jesus•
From the start of our marriage, me and Jaco felt the Lord calling us to create a culture of family, home, and hospitality here on our campus & He made it really clear that we were being invited to pour into and create a home environment for Him to fill with those who need it most. Saying yes to that invitation from the Lord required a few sacrifices (saying no to a nice 2 bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and moving onto a crowded campus with a toaster oven & hot plate) but it has been oh-so worth it! We have been blown away at how God has provided for us and made this tiny room on campus into such a wonderful and welcoming home. We were blessed with the most amazing (and comfy) community couch and gorgeous dining table by dear friends who went before us in this call here & are now spreading the same Kingdom hospitality & building family on the mainland. We were asked to become building managers (the building mom & dad to 200 fiery missionaries) and from that we have built some of the sweetest relationships with both the students & staff we have been able to gather in our home. Every time we have gathered people together in our home whether it’s been a pancake breakfast feast for the room staff or a love feast for the guys & girls rooms who won the cleaning inspection competitions, we have seen God show up and encounter both us & our guests. Our favorite moments are the q&a times that always follow the meals where these young people who have laid down their lives for the Lord are so hungry for wisdom on how to lead outreaches, Kingdom relationships & marriage, friendship with Jesus, hearing God’s voice, & the Holy Spirit. We know that we do not have all of the answers by far but it has been so sweet to see God show up in those moments & get to partner with Him in releasing wisdom & asking the Holy Spirit to show up and encounter their hearts. Life w/ Jesus is truly the best & worth our every yes!
