Hope in Quarantine!

March 27th, 2020

When I originally planned to post this picture 3 weeks ago, I was going to tell you about how much the Lord was teaching us about hospitality and discipleship (things that are still so important but just put on pause for now due to Covid19) but now I look at these shoes that so often piled up around our door and remember the friends and community that filled our house so often. I think about the hundreds of missionaries who just days before going on their outreaches were sent home due to this virus and my heart fills with faith and expectation (shocking right? No) because I believe God is doing a new thing now in the midst of this crisis. I can feel Him and see Him moving in new ways! Where we had come to expect God to do wild things in the nations, we are now crying out for Him to do those same wild things in hometowns, families are being brought together and forced to reconnect, a generation is becoming desperate for messages of hope rather than just mindless entertainment, and the church is being activated like never before. My heart (and extroverted self) are definitely missing having our home filled with people and I can’t wait to see and hug my friends again soon, but my hopes are rising and my faith is high for God to keep doing new things and redeem this crisis for His glory! Join me and Jaco in praying for families, marriages, communities, leaders, and nations to press into Jesus more than ever before in this time and to encounter the love of the Father and put Him at the center of all things, even the quarantine craziness! ~Ashley
